Once upon a time, in a place not too far but very close to the heart, there was a cheerful neighborhood called Smile Street. The children who lived there loved to play, but sometimes they didn’t notice when they hurt each other’s feelings.
Four friends lived on Smile Street: Emma, Leo, Sophie, and Jack.
One sunny afternoon, Emma noticed a little sparrow on the ground.
“Look!” she said. “The bird can’t fly.”
Leo was about to shrug, but Sophie said,
“We can help it.”
Jack added,
“Let’s tell our teacher.”
They gently placed the sparrow in a small box and took it to their teacher. The teacher smiled warmly.
“You did a wonderful thing. That is called kindness,” she said.
That day, the children had a bright idea.
“Let’s start a Kindness Club!” Emma said excitedly.
“Every day, we will do at least one kind thing.”
They found a notebook and wrote THE KINDNESS CLUB on the cover.
On the first day, Sophie invited a child who was sitting alone to join their game.
On the second day, Leo helped an elderly neighbor carry her groceries.
Jack said sorry after accidentally breaking a friend’s pencil.
Emma patiently helped her little brother with his homework.
As they filled the notebook, they realized something magical: their kindness didn’t just make others happy — it made them happy too.
Soon, Smile Street began to change. People smiled more, and children argued less. Even the grown-ups started asking,
“Where is all this happiness coming from?”
The children answered together,
“From the Kindness Club!”
On the last page of the notebook, they wrote:
“Kindness may be small, but when it comes from the heart, it becomes big.”
And from that day on, Smile Street truly lived up to its name.
Moral of the Story
Kindness grows when it is shared.
