On the shores of a boundless lake, where the wind whispered through the reeds, lived a graceful, elegant bird named Crane. Her wings carried the gray of the sky, her beak the pink of sunrise. But Crane had a secret that no one knew: She was the only bird that could understand human language.

Every morning, he would listen to the children playing on the lakeshore, decipher the conversations of the fishermen and the wind, and memorize the tales told by the village elders. But his true secret was that he carried the secret word of the bird kingdom:
“He who listens to the heart finds the way.”

This word was so precious that it was only spoken to the purest of hearts.

One day, a little girl named Elif came to the lakeshore. It was a sunny, purple afternoon; Elif’s eyes were filled with worry, her cheeks rosy from the wind. She was looking for her lost cat, Mırmır. She called out… but there was no answer.

Seeing the sadness in Elif’s eyes, Crane soared toward her. He soared above the reeds and landed in front of her. Elif was surprised but not afraid; there was a strange warmth in Crane’s eyes.

“Elif,” said Turna, in her perfectly human language .
The girl’s heart leapt. “You… can you speak?”

Crane nodded gracefully. “I only speak to those who are pure in heart. To find your cat, Purr, you need to hear a word.”

Elif knelt down in excitement. “What promise?”

The crane spread its wings slightly. The purple crimson light on the lake was reflected brightly in its feathers.
“He who listens to his heart finds the way.”

Elif tilted her head as if she didn’t understand what he meant. Turna smiled.

“If you search with your eyes you will see darkness. But if you search with your heart you will find light. Where would Mırmır find peace? Where would he feel safe? Your heart will tell you.”

Elif closed her eyes. She thought of Mırmır’s soft steps, his purring, where he curled up most often to sleep. She listened to her feelings, not her mind. Suddenly, it dawned on her: The warm rock by the lake!

He opened his eyes and ran towards it before he could even say thank you. The crane let out a thin cry of joy and flew away.

Indeed, Mırmır was asleep, curled up on the round, sun-warmed stone by the lake. When Elif embraced him, his heart trembled with joy.

The crane watched them from afar. His secret had once again reached the right person.

From that day on, Elif came to the lakeshore every morning. No one could see Crane anymore, but every time the wind blew, Elif thought she heard the secret words emanating from the reeds:

“He who listens to the heart finds the way.”

And the tale ends here; but Crane’s secret word always lives in the hearts of those who know how to hear it…
