Once upon a time… in a faraway land, there was a magical lake called Moon Lake
that shone brightly at night under the moonlight . The lake was so radiant that the moon seemed to gaze down upon its reflection, smiling at its own glow.
On the shore of Lake Moon lived a chubby, lovable bear named Mirmir . Mirmir was a little different from other bears. He loved eating honey, hibernating, and dancing . When the moonlight hit the lake, Mirmir’s paws would move on their own, and he would joyfully spin around the lake’s edge.
But Mirmir had a problem.
The other animals in the forest would laugh at him,
saying, “A bear doesn’t dance!”
Mirmir was saddened by these words, but he never stopped dancing.
One night, Moon Lake grew unusually dark. The moon had hidden behind the clouds, and the lake’s light had gone out. The animals were frightened because many people lost their way in the forest when Moon Lake wasn’t illuminated.
The Wise Owl gathered all the animals and spoke to them “ Joy
is needed to illuminate Lake Moon again . Without true joy, the moon will not return.”
Everyone had thought about it, but no one knew what to do. Then Mırmır quietly stepped forward. Her heart was pounding.
“I… I can dance,” she said hesitantly.
Some laughed, some were surprised. But there was no other option.
Mirmir walked towards the middle of the Moon Lake. She closed her eyes and listened to the music coming from her heart. She took soft steps with her paws, then turned, jumped, and began to dance as if there were moonlight.
At that moment, a small glimmer appeared on the lake.
The glimmer grew and grew…
And the moon emerged again from behind the clouds!
Lake Moon was even brighter than before. The animals clapped with joy. Rabbits jumped, deer swung their antlers, and squirrels twirled in the branches.
The wise owl smiled and said:
“Everyone has different talents. What matters is doing what comes from the heart.”
From that day on, Mırmır became known as the Dancing Bear of Moon Lake . No one ever mocked him. In fact, every full moon night, the animals would gather by the lake and dance with Mırmır.
And Mirmir learned this:
If you’re not ashamed of being yourself, everyone will see your light.
Three moonlight rays fell from the sky:
one onto the hearts of the children listening to the story,
one onto their dreams,
and one onto Lake Moon…
