Once upon a time… in a quiet town, there lived a little mouse named Minnoş
in the basement of an old stone house . Minnoş was very curious, but also a little impatient . If he wanted something, he wanted it immediately.
One night, precisely at midnight, the delicious smell of cheese wafted from the kitchen. Minnoş’s nose twitched with delight.
“This is the most delicious cheese I’ve ever smelled !” he said to himself.
But then he remembered a warning from the old owl, Wise Bird:
“Not every cheese that appears at midnight should be eaten immediately.”
Minnoş ignored it.
“What harm would it do if I just had a piece?” she said and quietly went into the kitchen.
Just as she reached for the cheese, *bang !*
She heard a sound. The door creaked. Minnoş stopped in fear. It turned out that Pamuk , the family cat, had come to the kitchen to get a drink of water!
Minnoş immediately hid. Her heart was pounding. She realized at that moment that if she hurried, she might get caught.
After the cat left, Minnoş looked at the cheese again. This time she examined it carefully. There was a small note next to the cheese:
“This cheese is for tomorrow’s picnic. Don’t touch it.”
Minnoş felt embarrassed.
“So, if I had been impatient, I would have both put myself in danger and infringed on someone else’s rights,” she said.
He didn’t eat the cheese that night. He returned to his cellar and waited until morning.
The next day, the homeowner placed a small piece of cheese
on the table and, laughing, said, “This is for our basement mouse.”
Minnoş was very happy. From that day on, she learned this:
Patience, careful consideration, and respect for the rights of others are the greatest qualities.
And Minnoş has now become not only a curious but also a wise mouse .
