Once upon a time… there lived a tiny, sparkling snowflake in one of the highest clouds in the sky . It was a little different from the other snowflakes; while everyone else was eager to descend to earth, it was content to be curious about the world.
He would wonder, “What’s it like down there?” and listen to the stories the wind told him.
One day, the wind suddenly grew stronger. As the snowflakes swirled joyfully, a tiny snowflake suddenly broke away from the flock. It spun around and around, but there were no familiar clouds left.
“I’m lost…” she whispered.
As it glided down, it landed on a pine tree branch. The branch creaked, but gently supported it. For the first time, the snowflake felt the warmth of a tree .
“I’m cold, but I’m not alone,” he said.
Then the sun smiled through the clouds. The little snowflake slowly began to melt. At first, it was scared… But when it dripped onto the ground, it noticed something:
a tiny puddle of water formed where it melted, and from there a seed sprouted, one that would grow in the spring.
At that moment, he realized he hadn’t disappeared… he had
simply transformed into something else .
And from that day on, every spring, the little flower that bloomed at the foot of that tree would look up at the sky and whisper:
“I am the little snowflake that disappeared.”
