Once upon a time, in a faraway land where mountains touched the clouds and the wind whispered through the trees, there lived a small village. In this village lived an old couple loved by everyone, but whose lives were not always fortunate. No matter how much they wanted children, they could never have any. Yet, they clung to each other with love and sat down to a meal together every morning with gratitude.
One day, the old woman went to the stream to wash clothes. At high in the sky, she saw a large, pink peach shimmering in the water. It was the most beautiful peach she had ever seen. Amazed, she picked up the peach and took it home.
That evening, they cut the peach in half together. Just as they were about to remove the pit, it suddenly began to glow with a warm light. The woman recoiled in fear, while the man said, “This must be a miracle.”
They wrapped the peach pit in a clean cloth and placed it in the brightest corner of the house. That night, thunder rumbled and the wind howled. When morning came, a faint crying sound came from inside the cloth. When the woman opened the cloth, she couldn’t believe her eyes: In place of the peach pit lay a baby with rosy cheeks and dark eyes.
“This child is a gift from God to us,” said the old man. They named him Peach .
Peach was no ordinary child. He could talk when he was three years old, and when he was five, he could outrun the wind while running. But most interestingly, he had a very pure heart. He felt for those who were sad, and he would share his bread with those who were hungry.
Days and years passed. A cruel giant appeared, living in the mountains near the village. This giant cut off the village’s water supply, trampled their crops, and demanded gold from the people. The villagers were so afraid that they couldn’t leave their homes.
When Peach heard this, she went to her parents and
said, “I will go so that this Giant’s tyranny may end.”
Her parents initially objected, but when they saw the determination in Peach’s eyes, they prayed for her and sent her on her way.
Along the way, Peach saved a swarm of ants from being crushed, gave water to a thirsty bird, and carried the burden of an old shepherd. It turned out that all of this was a test. The ant told him about the secret paths beneath the earth, the bird about the dangers in the sky, and the shepherd about the Giant’s weak point.
The giant’s heart wasn’t in his chest, but inside a peach tree at the top of the mountain.
The peach climbed the tree. The giant noticed and roared, but it was too late. The peach took the golden seed from inside the tree and dropped it to the ground. As soon as the seed touched the ground, the giant turned to stone.
The village was saved, the water flowed again, and the fields turned green.
Peach returned as a hero, but he was never arrogant. He sat at his parents’ knees and told stories to the village children.
The elderly couple passed away peacefully after many years. And Peach, in turn, created an orchard full of peach trees. They say that every peach that grows in that orchard carries hope and goodness.
And so the story ends…
Three peaches fell from the sky:
one for the storyteller, one for the listener, and one for the one with a pure heart
